Christmas lights are strewn all over town again and joyous gatherings are marked all over your calendars. But then during this season, we’ve tasted more than enough kitchens stuck in a rut — roasted turkey, mashed potatoes, poached seafood, alcohol-laced eggnog and whatnot. So, what if we tell you that’s not the only choice you have?

This year, Grand Park City Hall is hosting the Christmas Close To Home lunch and dinner buffet at Indulge at Park from now to 31 Dec 2016. There’s no running away from the usual Christmas-y ingredients (hello, turkey!) but just lesser of the above-mentioned stereotypical method of presentation. Let’s see those with a twist: Smoked Turkey Claypot Rice, Chilli Crab Puff Pastry and SG Flavours Macaron (Nonya Kaya, Gula Melaka, Bandung etc). Not sold yet? Read on to discover more interesting locally-kissed dishes.

Duck Liver and Maraschino Cherry Mille-Feuille

Not a big fan of gamey duck liver? We get it. But with the magical layerings of maraschino cherry filling, orange butter and yuzu jam on thin layers of puff pastry separated by duck liver mousse, all non-accepting flavours will be replaced by a velvety spread with an unexpected airiness.

Smoked Turkey Claypot Rice

Yeah, you know, the bao zai fan you eat in hawker? Little did you know turkey can be a part of this local delight. And surprisingly, it did go well with textured grains and the specks of salted fish.

Red Shrimp

In Chinese cooking, the method of cooking seafood is always kept to the minimal, because that’s believed to retain the fresh, oceanic bite that no meat can replace. The kitchen of Grand Park City Hall flambé almost palm-sized Argentina shrimps with cognac, and we don’t really need to elaborate how sweet it tasted and how juicy and firm the shrimp were.

Lemon Tartlets

Filled with lemon custard on crusty bottom and topped with lime meringue cream, these Lemon Tartlets will put a perfect zingy end to your feasting.

“The marriage of local flair and traditional Christmas dishes is a match made in heaven.” said Mr Cheong Hai Poh, General Manager of Grand Park City Hall.
