Thai’ny Town by D’s Kitchen – Casual Family-friendly Thai Fare

Thai’ny Town, located at Junction 10 and 10 minutes away from Bukit Panjang MRT Station, is a representation of how much Thai food has infiltrated Singapore’s culture—you don’t even need to head down to the centre of the city to get a taste of infamously picante food.

The family-friendly restaurant features good-for-sharing dishes and insanely reasonable-priced lunch sets that comes with a main dish, a side dish and a drink. Also, the restaurant is currently offering Chinese Lunar New Year Family and Couple Set Meals, which would not at all burn a hole in your pocket.

The dressing for Mango Salad (ยำ มะม่วง) would probably be too aggressive if you’re not into spicy food, but if you are, then you will be in for a treat. Sliced crunchy mango and carrot, toasted peanuts and dried shrimps drenched in hot, savoury, sweet and acidic Thai-style dressing would send you bolt of piquant warmth down your tummy.

Chicken broth flavoured with fresh lemongrass, shallots, garlic, chilli padi, lime leaves and ginger, then with additional ingredients such as fresh prawns, mussels and squid coupled with noodles of your choice, Tom Yum Jumbo Seafood (ต้มยำ จัมโบ้ทะเล) would be ideal for two stomachs.

Almost unfamiliar in Singapore, Jim Jum (Thai Hotpot) (จิ้มจุ่ม) seems like a good idea for a family of four. Served with spices to add in at your preference and a platter of assortment seafood and meats, it captures the spirit of melded cuisines. Ask for an additional serving of Family Meal that comes with Tom Yum Jumbo Seafood (ต้มยำ จัมโบ้ทะเล), choice of seabass cooked according to taste, choice of vegetable, 2 appetisers and 4 drinks, and you with your family be leaving feeling satisfied.

Deep-Fried Pandan Leaf Chicken (ไก่ห่อใบเตย) is no stranger—the grilled chicken is marinated before wrapping it in pandan leaves and grilling it over fire to seal its juices and flavour.

Cooking glutinous rice with coconut milk has to be one of the best things. The milk imparts a creamy fragrance to the rice, which delivers a subtle whiff and smack when you bite down into the faultless texture of the rice in Mango Glutinous Rice (ข้าวเหนียวมะม่วง).

Need a drink to wash down the heavy flavours? Choose from a variety of beverages such as Lemon Grass, Thai Milk Tea or Thai Milk Green Tea.
