There must be something riveting about cafes so much so that most Singaporeans are dying to visit every single one of them on this tiny island. Singapore is littered with all sorts of options, mainly in the central area and some expanding into residential areas. We’re seeing quite a number of cafes opening up in community centres, hence we are bringing you a list of these whenever we can.
To kickstart the series, we introduce SOD Cafe at the newly built Ci Yuan Community Centre that serves up everyday main courses, pastas, and signature tea beverages.
Chunks of wild mushroom are cooked with other decent ingredients before lightly flavoured with bay leaf and topped with croutons.
The battered and deep fried snapper is a nice surprise to the usual vapid and sloppy fish most would use. Paired with either sweet potato fries or normal fries, its portion is perfectly adequate for young kids as well.
An ample portion of chicken thigh is tersely grilled with a variety of cheese atop, and then served with potato gratin and special tomato sauce.
The no-fuss one dish Spaghetti Aglio Olio with Prawns would suffice for a laid-back meal.
Originally from Spain as a breakfast item, Singapore took things a little further by exploding its greatness. SOD Cafe made sure they didn’t miss out anything by exploring the possibilities of what they can do, with the results being deep-fried churros dusted with a generous amount of cinnamon sugar and an extra chocolate dip.
One of the highlights of the meal, the milk tea they feature is made with non-caffeinated tea and comes with a choice of black pearls, white pearls or aloe vera, where the white pearls are said to be fiber-packed and extra chewy.
Also caffeine-free, this zingy fruit tea with sliced fresh fruits is perfect for the hot weather.
