Peony Jade – Celebrating 12th Anniversary With 12 Dishes At $12!

In celebration of Peony Jade’s 12th birthday, the newly-minted Michelin Bib Gourmand restaurant invites gourmets and Cantonese cuisine loyalists to savour the brand’s 12 signatures (priced at S$12++ each) from now till 12 August 2016. Below is a list of the 12 signatures.

Steamed Kampung Chicken Flavoured in Premium Fragrant Dark Soya

Two reasons this received a stamp of approval from us at the first bite: the price ($12++ for half a chicken) and of course how it tasted. The leaner and healthier kampung chicken are soaked through with dark soya sauce and various other spices.

Wok-Fried Bull Frog with Chilli & Shallots

Stir-fried in an authentic Cantonese way, the kick may first come on strong with the raw spiciness of chillis and shallots. But it certainly delivers a remarkable flavour punch that goes well with rice.

Steamed Minced Meat with “Mui Heong” Salted Fish

How do you define a great dish? For some who could resonate, perhaps one that would jolt you right back to a past moment in your life. Just say that this one managed to do so at certain bites, especially when it’s so brilliantly simple, like what your grandma would make during those days when you were still in your school uniform.

Stewed Winter Melon with Crabmeat & Roe

Soup is often drank before a meal to build appetite and warm stomach. To the Cantonese, winter melon is considered nourishing and cooling in nature and overall great for health. Besides, the soft and light taste of winter melon are made for those of crab meat and roe.

Deep Fried Sweet & Sour & Sticky Pork Ribs

Made well, the pork ribs should peel off the bones easily when you delve into it, even when they’d been deep-fried. Even better when each piece is coated with a sweet and sour homemade sauce.

Chaozhao-Styled Braised Mee-Pok with Minced Pork

Hearty and soothing to the palate, the synthesis of just-cooked noodles and savoury braised sauce; and bits of minced pork and mushrooms for texture makes for an addictive tray of noodles.
