It’s our second visit and we’re very excited to be back to taste try the new menu!

Garlic Butter Salmon

Asari Garlic Yaki

Asari Garlic Yaki

First up, we tried the Asari Garlic Yaki, which are fresh clams pan fried and sauteed with Butter & Soya Sauce. According to the amiable staff, this is one of the most popular dish from the new menu, and most knowing customers will order it. After tasting it, we immediately understood why- the fragrance of the garlic and butter melts well with the clam, and the overall sensation and flavour is great! Looks like we’ve become a fast fan of this dish too.

Grilled Hamachi Fish (Yellowtail)

Next up is the Buta Kare dish, which is Grilled Pork Marinated with Curry. We thought this tasted quite similar to one of our favourite local hawker dishes- satay! That said, the pork meat is marinated well, and the fats in between the tender slices of meat are lightly crisp… all this creates a great texture and flavour! Warning: One stick is definitely not enough. You’ll want to order more of these delicious grilled curry pork!

The next few dishes are ones that Japanese food fans will definitely be familiar with. Introducing the Yakitori Chicken, which is grilled chicken on a stick. The Shinkei version is very tender and well marinated. Enjoy biting into the big chunks of flavourful meat! And to top it off, enjoy the silky smooth Chawamushi- a simple but oh so satisfying hot dish. Ah, we cannot resist such soft, delicious goodness of Japanese styled steamed eggs!

Shake Buta

Following that, we tried the Shake Buta, the Pan Fried Salmon with Butter Sauce. We found the taste alright, but also felt that the salmon was slightly overcooked.

Spider Fried Soft Shell Crab Temaki (Handroll)

Sashimi Platter

One of the highlights of any Japanese restaurant would be its Sashimi Platter! We always look forward to eating these fresh slices of glossy raw fish, whenever we are at one. Shinkei Japanese Restaurant provides you with a wide range of fresh sashimi types, so you’ll be spoilt for choice. Looking at this picture, won’t you want to dig in too?

Wafu Salad

Next, we tried the Wafu Salad, a refreshing and zesty salad that will not go wrong. Especially refreshing if you are trying to detox after the heavy festive feasting!

Pork Katsu

Lastly, we had the fried Pork Katsu. Crispy on the outside, soft and tender on the inside, there’s really nothing to complain about here. Yum! A safe and smart choice, especially for those who prefer meat over seafood.
