Yes, you can make a Din Tai Fung reservation in Singapore, but only at 23 of its 31 outlets, and mostly on weekdays. The other outlets are walk-in only, and outlets also run a digital queue you can join from your phone. How Din Tai Fung reservations work
- Which outlets: 23 of 31 outlets take online bookings. The rest have a no-reservation policy: Great World, Jewel Changi Airport, Junction 8, One Holland Village, Northpoint City, Parkway Parade, Tampines Mall and Velocity @ Novena Square.
- Book ahead: at least 1 day in advance, through the official online booking page.
- Weekdays only, mostly: no bookings on weekends or public holidays unless the outlet says otherwise. Chinatown Point and IMM take bookings daily, Geneo and Marina Bay Link Mall take weekend bookings, and BreadTalk IHQ takes Saturday bookings. Each card above shows the outlet’s window.
- Party size: bookings are for 2 people and above (kids count).
- Time limit: 120 minutes’ dining time, and your table is held for 5 minutes past the booking time.
- Phone and email: Din Tai Fung’s site says email or enquiry-form booking requests aren’t accepted. Use the online booking page, or call the outlet for general reservations.
How the Din Tai Fung queue works
- Open the outlet’s queue page, using the Join the queue button or the QR code above, and register for a queue number.
- You’ll get an SMS showing the live queue status.
- When your table is almost ready, you get an automated call. Head back within 5 minutes or the table is released.
- Missed your number? Staff will try to fit you in at the next available table. If there’s no queue at all, just approach the staff.
Private dining and big groups
Private dining rooms (with a minimum spend at outlets such as Paragon and Resorts World Sentosa) and the Xiao Long Bao Masterclass are available at selected outlets by enquiry through Din Tai Fung’s private dining page.

The story of Din Tai Fung
Din Tai Fung started in Taipei as a small cooking-oil shop and turned to steamed dumplings when the oil trade faded, becoming one of Taiwan's best-known food exports. In Singapore it is run by BreadTalk Group, which opened the first restaurant here in 2003.
- 1958: Yang Bing-yi and his wife Lai Pen-mei opened a cooking-oil shop called Din Tai Fung in Taipei.
- Early 1970s: As tinned oil cut into sales, the couple began making xiao long bao, and the shop became a full restaurant.
- 1993: The New York Times named Din Tai Fung one of the world's ten best restaurants.
- 1996: The brand opened its first restaurant outside Taiwan, in Shinjuku, Tokyo.
- 2003: BreadTalk Group opened the first Singapore restaurant at Paragon on Orchard Road.
- 2009: Its Tsim Sha Tsui branch in Hong Kong earned the brand its first Michelin star.
