Best Satay in Singapore: 19 Best Spots (2026)

satay in Singapore

The best satay in Singapore is found at hawker stalls such as Pang's Satay and Shi Xiang Satay at Chinatown Complex, Haron Satay 55 at East Coast Lagoon, Kwong Satay in Geylang and the open-air Satay Street at Lau Pa Sat. The guide covers both main styles: sweeter Hainanese and Chinese-style pork and chicken satay (often with pineapple in the peanut sauce), and spice-marinated Malay-style beef, mutton and chicken satay, which is the style to look for if you need a Muslim-owned or MUIS-certified stall. Most hawker satay costs from around $0.60 to $1 a stick, usually with a 10-stick minimum. Sets at Lau Pa Sat and specialist shops cost more. The main clusters are Chinatown Complex (three stalls), East Coast Lagoon, Geylang Serai and Newton. Many stalls only fire up the grill in the late afternoon and close one or two days a week, so check the hours below before you travel.

Your questions answered

Where is the best satay in Singapore?

Well-known picks include Pang's Satay, Shi Xiang Satay and MICHELIN-listed 168 CMY Satay at Chinatown Complex, Haron Satay 55 and Ahmad Spring at East Coast Lagoon Food Village, Kwong Satay in Geylang (pork belly), Original Alhambra Satay at Geylang Serai, and Satay Street at Lau Pa Sat for the open-air experience.

How much does satay cost in Singapore?

At hawker stalls, satay costs from around $0.60 to $1 a stick, and most stalls require a minimum of 10 sticks (Haron Satay 55 asks for about 20). Pork belly skewers cost from around $1.50. Sets at Lau Pa Sat's Satay Street run up to about $26, and delivery or party sets from specialist shops cost more.

Where can I find halal satay in Singapore?

Opah Satay in Kampong Glam is listed in the MUIS halal directory. Muslim-owned stalls include Haron Satay 55 and Ahmad Spring at East Coast Lagoon, Original Alhambra Satay (Geylang Serai and Changi Village) and Yusoff Haji Jalal Satay at Pasir Panjang. Satay Street at Lau Pa Sat has both halal and pork stalls, so check each stall's signage.

What time do satay stalls open?

Most satay stalls are evening stalls that open from about 3pm to 6pm and close between 8pm and midnight. Lau Pa Sat's Satay Street runs from 7pm on weekdays and 3pm on weekends until about 3am, and TKR Satay at Newton stays open until 12:30am. 168 CMY Satay and Original Alhambra Satay (Geylang Serai) are open from the morning. Many stalls close one or two days a week, often Monday or Tuesday.

What's the difference between Hainanese and Malay-style satay?

Hainanese or Chinese-style satay is usually sweeter and is often pork or chicken, served with a peanut sauce mixed with pineapple purée. Malay-style satay is marinated with spices such as turmeric, lemongrass, coriander and cumin, uses chicken, beef or mutton (sometimes tripe), and comes with a thicker, spicier peanut sauce. Halal stalls serve Malay-style satay.

Do I need to book or queue for satay?

Hawker satay stalls don't take bookings. You order at the stall, and popular ones such as Pang's Satay can involve waits of around 30 minutes at peak. For groups, Satay Street at Lau Pa Sat has plenty of outdoor seating. Some stalls, such as Haron Satay 55 and Opah Satay, also take advance or delivery orders through online ordering pages.
