The story of IPPUDO
IPPUDO started as a single tonkotsu ramen shop in Fukuoka in 1985 and grew into one of Japan's best-known ramen exports. Singapore was its first company-run market in Asia outside Japan, and later became the base for the group's overseas business.
- 1985: Shigemi Kawahara opened the first IPPUDO ramen shop in Daimyo, Fukuoka.
- 1994: A branch at the new Shin-Yokohama Ramen Museum gave IPPUDO national fame in Japan.
- 2008: IPPUDO NY in Manhattan's East Village became the brand's first company-run restaurant outside Japan.
- 2009: The group set up IPPUDO Singapore and a local company to make its own noodles and broth here.
- 2009: IPPUDO's first Singapore restaurant opened at Mandarin Gallery on Orchard Road.
- 2013: A Singapore-based holding company was formed to run the group's overseas business.
- 2015: IPPUDO Express at Changi Airport opened as the first of its quick-service ramen counters.
- 2017: Parent company Chikaranomoto Holdings listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
