The story of Brotzeit
Brotzeit is a German bier bar and restaurant brand that started in Singapore in 2006, created by Bavarian and Austrian expatriates living here. Its pork knuckles and German beers made it a mall fixture, and it later franchised the concept across Asia-Pacific.
- 2006: The first Brotzeit opened at VivoCity in HarbourFront.
- 2010: Brotzeit signed its first franchise deal, starting its overseas expansion with outlets in Kuala Lumpur and Ho Chi Minh City.
- 2012: The Star Vista outlet opened as Brotzeit's fourth in Singapore.
- 2026: For its 20th year in Singapore, Brotzeit ran a German menu with local twists.
Did you know?
- The concept was dreamed up in Singapore by Bavarian and Austrian expatriates, so it is a local brand rather than a German import.
- The name joins the German words for bread (Brot) and time (Zeit).
- Crispy pork knuckle has been its signature dish from early on.
