The story of Summer Pavilion

Summer Pavilion is the in-house Cantonese restaurant of The Ritz-Carlton, Millenia Singapore on Marina Bay, and is not a standalone chain. Under Hong Kong-born chef Cheung Siu Kong it was among the first restaurants to win a star in the 2016 debut of the Michelin Guide Singapore, and it is listed with one star in the 2026 guide.

  • 2003: Cheung Siu Kong joins the Summer Pavilion kitchen.
  • 2014: Cheung is promoted to Chinese Executive Chef and takes charge of the kitchen.
  • 2015: The restaurant reopens after an eight-month makeover with a contemporary interior and six private dining rooms.
  • 2016: It wins one star in the first Michelin Guide Singapore, and the hotel says it was the only Chinese restaurant in a Singapore hotel to receive one that year.
  • 2024: It ranks No. 75 on Asia's 50 Best Restaurants, then slips to No. 95 on the 51-100 list published in March 2025.
  • 2026: It is again listed as a one-star restaurant in the Michelin Guide Singapore 2026, after also keeping its star in 2025.

  • Chef Cheung Siu Kong comes from Hong Kong, and his cooking favours restrained technique that lets the natural flavour of the ingredients show.
